Well seeing that its easter break we didnt have a lecture or a tuturial, so there wasn't much to be said.
Going over the slides we were asked to answer questions such as:
- Who invented the web? hard to answer to many people claim to have invented the internet.
- What was the first web page constructed?
- What does WWW stand for? world wide web
- What are TCP and IP? Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol
- What is html and what does it do? It was designed to help teacher create learning resources that can accessed on the web.
- What does URL stand for? Uniform Resource Locator.
- 3 doman names? edu, gov,co and org.
The lecture also covered internet v. web and gave some examples like on the internet you find computers and on th web you find documents, sounds, videos and info.
The first network of computers was at 4 university in 1969 were the host computers were connected into ARPANET which is a large wide-area network created by the united states Defense Advanced Research Project Agency.
We then learnt the definintion of the web-"is universal of assible information stored on computers throughout the world. The infomation is avalible through a gigantic network called the internet" .
The last couple of slides were on internet explorer and the browser interface and how to use the keys for short cuts on your keyboard.

2. from the sites address i would expect to find infomation on martin luther king
My first inpressions were what a insult to martin luther king with little statements on what he said at the hotel and that he had rap lyrics.
After going through some of the articles i found that i was right in the first place. Its a very raciest site with insults to Mr king. Its making the asssumption of that because Mr King was an African American that he was a RnB artist.
readings:
) This reading is on the origin of the internet. The first recorded description of the social interactions that could be enabled through networking was a series of memos written by J.C.R. Licklider of MIT in August 1962. There were 4 ground rules for this to work a couple of them were; Communications would be on a best effort basis. If a packet didn't make it to the final destination, it would shortly be retransmitted from the source and
There would be no global control at the operations level.
2) This reading was also on the history of the internet. The sites home page contained a picture of a satellite showing all the signals that are being sent. The page also had 5 chapters:
· The development of computers till 1960’s
· From Arpanet to world wide web
· History of electronic mail(email)
· Search engines
· Basic net data.
